Friday night we put on our Sperry’s & Polo Tees & took a trip out to “The Hampton’s,” (aka a friends house,) for their annual “Cape Cod Party.” It was tons of fun, with lots of yummy treats & drinks. I brought bacon wrapped dates, which appear much more fancy than their preparation reveals! I snapped a photo as they came out of the oven & thought I’d share. They’re a solid “go to” app for me, so I hope you enjoy them, too.
What you’ll need:
1 box of PITTED dates (you’ll need as many dates, as you have half strips of bacon)
1 thin bacon (cut in half strips)
Raw almonds (optional)
Toothpicks (for better hold)
Assembly:
Preheat your oven to Broil. Cut your bacon strips in half. Grab a date, stuff the center with an almond. Wrap the date with a half strip of bacon & secure with a toothpick. Place on a broiler pan. (a baking sheet with a wire rack on top, or a foil lined baking sheet will also work. The latter will be more messy though.) Continue wrapping those babies til you can’t wrap anymore, then pop in the broil bacon is crisp. (You’ll likely need to turn halfway through, to ensure an even “crisp” on each side.) Pull out of oven, cool on a wire rack, & enjoy! 🙂
