Last Wednesday, Brandon and I bundled up and stood outside of a local grocery store to ring the bell for the Salvation Army. I have to say it was quite the experience. You’d be surprised at how many people just look away or down at the ground, trying to avoid eye contact at all costs. Now, I totally understand that not everyone has the funds to give, or that some have their contributions invested elsewhere, or don’t support the cause, etc., etc., – and that’s fine. It was all just very eye opening for me to witness people “rejecting” a friendly smile, or reply to a “hello”. I didn’t let that stop me, though. I shouted “Happy Thanksgiving” and “Have a great Holiday” at every single person that entered in that door as they rushed to get their last minute turkey dinner items, and you know what?… most of them eventually came around, returning the greeting as they left the store. We even ended up receiving a ton of donations!
All this to say, I really encourage you to step out of your comfort zone and spread some Christmas cheer this Holiday season. You never know how a smile, or a simple “hello” could change someone’s day. Remember, ’tis the Season to give and “giving” comes in all shapes and sizes.
Happy Holidays!

That definitely sounds like quite an experience. I think in this economy people are going through so much that it is almost the default reaction to look down or avoid eye contact. I am sure your cheerful greeting brightened up many spirits. I love your winter ensemble. Great mix of colors and style.http://foodfashionandflow.blogspot.com
