Leah Behr: 4 Ways To Step Out Of A Style Rut

4 Ways To Step Out Of A Style Rut

It's easy to get stuck in a style rut. I personally get so attached to my whites, neutrals, blacks and grays, that I will sometimes stop buying colored pieces altogether. Fashion experts would tell you that adding colorful accessories like cobalt flats, a bright red bag, or hot pink sunnies will do the trick to break you out of a style rut, but sometimes you just gotta go cold turkey, and ditch those neutrals.
1. Add Color - Yes, adding bold colored accessories will do the trick, but adding colorful clothing to your wardrobe is even more effective when trying to revamp your fashion sense. For an added bonus, combine colors you normally wouldn't.

2. Take A Chance - I don't know if I have ever worn an oversized top with a flowy maxi skirt, before. But I took a chance in this post with this Chicwish top and skirt, and love how it turned out. Yes, it won't accentuate your figure, but sometimes it's not about that. Sometimes, fashion is just about having fun. Guiliana Rancic recently said that if you end up on the worst dressed list, it's a good thing, because it means you are taking chances. I totally get what she means, and it actually empowered me to step out of the box a little bit more.

3. Wear Bold Lipstick - I can't tell you how much adding a bold lip has changed my life. Like, no joke. I used to always be the girl that would run out the door without her lips on (like in this post). All that changed when I met GloMinerals. I was so intimidated to wear bold lips at first, and really didn't think it was my thing. I was completely wrong! You'd be surprised how easy, cheap and fun it is to rock a bold lip. Give it a try. I dare you!

4. Trade Heels For Sneakers - Athleisure has taken off in a big way this year. Play around with the trend by switching out your heels for sneakers.

What are some of your tips for stepping out of a style rut?
