Back in the Springs after a whirlwind of a trip! I didn’t talk much about it on here, because we went out to Cali to surprise my grandma for her 80th birthday, and I didn’t want her to find out. That being said, I still documented it all on Insta.
We started the weekend out in Venice and spent the afternoon walking around Abbot Kinney and biking on the beach, before meeting up with my girl Jenna from Visions of Vogue. Our hubbies came with, and it was the best blind-double-date. I just love them!
Saturday morning we headed to Bakersfield (my hometown) in our covertible that Turo let us borrow (more on that later). It was so great getting to not only surprise my grandma, but to get to share my hometown with Bran. It was his first time seeing where I grew up, so that was a lot of fun for me, for sure. I especially loved all the family and close friends I got to see.
Since it was a quick weekend trip, I knew I had to pack light, so I reached out to Sole Society in hopes of a weekend bag that would work, and this one fit the bill.

When it comes to travel style, there is really only one thing in mind…comfort. I don’t normally wear shorts, but one thing is for certain, I will always have a long sleeve (or 3/4 sleeve) on. Plane temps are just too unpredictable. Another thing I struggle with is wearing open toed shoes on a plane. I don’t know why, but it just grosses me out. Whenever I can, I opt for closed toe shoes, like these booties. Honestly, these are so comfy! I love how they are tighter at the ankle and best of all… they come in 6 colors!
I’ve got a big party planned this weekend, and SO much to do, so things will probably be quiet around the blog for the rest of the week. Don’t worry though, you know you can always see what’s going on over on IG. Have a fabulous week lovers!

Rocking the shorts and boots girl!! I've loved those boots since last year. Such great travel style. Your trip looked like so much fun. How great to show Brian where you grew up.Amy AnnStraight A Style
Such a cute look. I love the longer shirt with the shorts. It's funny that you mentioned being grossed out by open toe booties. I'm actually grossed out by putting my bare foot in booties like what you have on without socks on. It feels so icky to me, at least with open toe booties, the feet get some air. I do love the look of the booties without the socks. I wish I could get pass that icky feeling though.
I have such a hard time finding shorts that are a decent length these days, love these!
I agree always when travelling it's good to wear long-sleeve. Even if I am travelling in summer, I bring with me a sweater because it's always so cold in the plane!! I hope you enjoyed Venice. XOXO, Carolynawww.carolynabauer.com
