What do you do when you finish landscaping and need to celebrate? Throw a Flamingo Party, of course! (If you need the backstory on why I decided to throw a flamingo themed party, read here.)
I started stocking up on flamingo party decor at the beginning of summer, making sure to stick to a strict flamingo theme. Photo booths are a party standard these days, so I stocked up on Instax film for my polaroid and plenty of photo booth props. I picked up a pineapple microprint fabric for the “photo booth”, this flamingo wrapping paper, and this sparkly “Let’s Flamingle” banner off Etsy.
Etsy also saved the day, with these adorable Let’s Flamingle balloons.
We spray painted pineapples gold and set them around on the food and drink tables. I just love how they turned out! (Pictured below.) And, of course no flamingo party is complete without a flocked yard, so we scored a bunch of these plastic yard flamingoes from Home Depot. (I shopped around, and they were the cheapest place I could find them, fyi.) Sadly, I never nabbed a photo of the flock…. Too busy have fun, I guess. 😉
One of my favorite parts about the night was the personalized Snapchat geofilter I had created for the event. Jaxes Design helped my vision come to life, and created this custom geofilter for me. I just gave her my idea, and she created two images for me to choose from. For $20 bucks (plus a $5 submission fee to snapchat for the location) it was money well spent, if you ask me. She even gave me simple step-by-step instructions on how to submit the image to Snapchat. I submitted everything the day before my party, and it was approved the same day, so you don’t really have to plan that far in advance – which is nice. Then, any of your guests can enjoy the custom filter, while they are at your event. How fun is that?!
No party is complete without festive cocktails, and my buddy at Lee Spirits, Co helped me craft the cocktail menu. In keeping with the pink theme, we served up Spritz (which I can now say I am completely obsessed with!). For those that aren’t familiar with the beverage, it’s 3 parts rose, 2 parts aperol, and a splash of club soda. It’s all the rage in Italy, and I’m making a case for it to become a thing here, too. Who’s with me?!
Since Lee Spirits is a gin distiller, they created a yummy gin cocktail for the event, with watermelon puree and elderflower liquer. It was delicious! If you don’t think you are a gin person, I highly suggest giving Lee Spirits a try. I never knew I liked gin, either, but this stuff completely changed my mind.
Needless to say, it was a fun day. Now that the party is over, we’re still enjoying our beautiful backyard, and it feels so good! I’ll have to share the reveal on that soon. Enjoy your weekend!
