Today I’m SO excited to be kicking off a new series centered around the city I live in and everything I love in it. For those who don’t know what city I’m talking about, it’s Colorado Springs, CO – or, I should say, ColoRADo Springs. 😉 I have lived here now for 7 years, this December, and have really started to feel rooted.
I’m a huge fan of this community. For many years, millennials would move away from this city searching for more “cool” and “hip” places to live, with more to do. A few years ago, many of my peers decided that enough was enough, and it was time to do the work, root down, and invest in this city to make “The Springs” shine, again. And boy, have they succeeded.
Today I’m kicking off the series with my favorite coffee shops in Colorado Springs, because let’s face it…this girl loves coffee, so I better know where to get a good cup, right?

Loyal Coffee – The newest of the shops on this list, Loyal Coffee has quickly taken off and for good reason. It was birthed by 6 incredible local baristas. The interior decor borrows from industrial and mid-century elements, making it unique and inviting space to enjoy a drink. They serve pour-over, drip, cortado and more. (I’m particularly fond of their chai.) They even serve mixed drinks and house made kombucha, though I have not tried either. As for food, you can get a mean piece of thick toast with fixin’s such as peanut butter and banana, or hard boiled egg, among with many other pastries and in-house donuts.
The Wild Goose Meeting House – (A personal favorite of mine for many reasons.) “The Goose” took Colorado Springs by storm a few years back, and hasn’t had an empty seat since. Not only is the coffee amazing, but they have a full bar of teas, craft beers, and wines. They have delicious breakfast quesadilla’s, salads, sandwiches, and (a personal favorite) gooseberry jelly – this instantly stole my heart as my mom often made gooseberry jelly in my childhood. You can catch live music here several nights a week, as well.
The Principal’s Office – Located inside Ivywild School, an abandoned school that was refurbished into an amazing center for food, drink and events, PO serves up craft cocktails and coffee. Their menu boasts cheeky titles like “The Catholic School Girl” and “The Breakfast Club”. If you have never visited The Principal’s Office at Ivywild School, it’s a must to add to your list.
Welcome Fellow – Coffee shop meets co-working space at this downtown space. You can even host private events here.
Urban Steam – Tucked behind a neighborhood in an industrial area, this cafe is a diamond in the rough. You can try coffee beverages from around the world, such as Turkish Coffee, Cubano Con Leche (so good!) and many more. Many go for their incredible waffle offerings, but they have recently expanded their menu to offer an abundance of breakfast and lunch options that I’ve been meaning to try.
Jives – College students frequent this eclectic cafe. With one location in Old Colorado City and one conveniently located near my office at Nevada and I-25, Jives often fuels my afternoon pick-up me. I usually go for a black drip coffee or a yerba mate.
Peak Place Coffeehouse – Truly one of a kind, this coffeehouse is one of the few local shops on the North end of town. If you are looking for a place to gather on the North end, this is it. Bonus: they have half off bottles of wine on Wednesday.
Fifty Fifty Coffeehouse – Home to Switchback Coffee Roasters, this is one of my favorite places for fresh roasted beans and pour overs. Located just walking distance from my home, you might often find me here on a Saturday morning picking up a cup of coffee and avocado toast drizzled with siracha honey.
There are many more local coffee shops here in town, but these are the ones I love and frequent. I’ll be featuring more of my town favorites in the future, so if there is anything in particular you are curious about, let me know in the comments below!

This is a fun series! I loved Denver so much when I came. I need to come back and check out Colorado Springs now. I'm a sucker for good coffee. And I'm loving this fall combo!Amy AnnStraight A Style
What a fun new series!! I'm a huge fan of smaller coffee shops – but of course the convenience of SBUX usually wins! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
We LOVE Speedtrap in Palmer lake. It also has a full bar and gluten free menu including GF Belgian waffles on Sunday's. Their coffee reminds me of the cups I used to get in Nice, France.
Renee always goes there. I haven't been yet, though!
This is so great-thanks for sharing! I'll have to try one of these places out next time I visit friends in the Springs! <3Katelyn :: The Suitcase Blonde

Nothing is more important than a great cup of coffee, and it's sounds like your city has such a vibrant scene! Love the sound of the principals office, and the fact that an old school was repurposed rather than torn down.Iamchiconthecheap.com
