A vest is really one of the most versatile pieces you can own. In my opinion, every closet should have a few different styles. Over the years, I’ve accumulated a few different styles – a puffer vest, a sleeveless trench vest, and new to my closet is this fringe vest.
I’ve posted this fringe vest several times over on my Instagram, and wanted to finally share it over here. It’s currently sold out in the small, but you can still snag the medium/large size here. It’s even on a flash sale or $30, right now! You cannot beat a fall essential, like this fringe vest, at that price!
When it comes to layering a fringe vest for fall, I stick to a few simple tips that I wanted to share with you:
1. Mix Textures – When layering pieces for fall, I find that mixing the texture of the pieces is essential to achieving a flawless look. You essentially want a heavy and light piece mixed together – two bulky pieces just do not work. For example, I styled this smooth, lightweight cotton tee with a rough, woven, fringe vest. A silk blouse with a heavy fur vest would also work well. I also recently wore this vest with my favorite lightweight tunic – currently on sale here for $28
2. Proportions – I absolutely love styling a dress and vest together for fall, as seen here, but keep in mind that proportions are key. You really want the hem of the dress and the hem of the vest to be about the same.
3. Fit – Make sure your vest is tailored enough to flatter your waistline. There is nothing that will add a few pounds to your figure more than a poorly fitted vest! Like anything, don’t just purchase a piece because it’s cute on the rack. Always make sure it flatters your figure, or send it right back!
What do you think? Do you agree with my tips to style a fringe vest? Do you have any that I missed? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!
