I’m finally sharing the deets on my annual flamingo party (it’s only a month later, it’s fine). If you’re not sure what I’m talking about, every year we throw an obnoxious theme party that is filled with all things pink and all things flamingo. We call it “The Great Flamingle”.
If you know me, you know I love to entertain. It’s my thing. Being that the size of our current home doesn’t allow for much entertaining, we aimed to create an outdoor space that would. And, every summer, we throw the flamingo party to take advantage of it.
We always keep a pink theme, but this year, I incorporated a lot more teal to the space. Beyond that, we accent with flamingo print everything, with a few pineapple touches here are there.
This year, we added a few things that I was pretty thrilled about, like these flamingo croquet sets. I had been wanting to do a flamingo croquet set for a long time, but wasn’t thrilled about the idea of hand painting each piece, to match the color theme. Then I came across this vibrantly colored SunnyLife croquet set, and it totally fit the bill. All I had left to do was all the flamingos to the shaft of each stick – and when I say “I” I obviously mean “Brandon” 😉
Now for the piéce de résistance: the balloon arch.
I’ve received a lot of questions about this and how to pull it off. Let’s just say it took 250 balloons, the help of 5 crafty girlfriends, 3 hours of prep, some chicken wire, and this tutorial to pull it off. (Insider tip: glue dots are your friend here. NOT hot glue.) It was a lot of work, but honestly 100% worth it! (I just hope I can count on my girls to help me pull it off again next year!)
As for the food and drinks, and keeping in line with the pink theme, we served up pink lemonade with vodka. Summer Water was also kind enough to send us some Rosé for the party. Their rosé is one of my absolute favorites! They are even offering my followers $25 off your first order of any of their wine with the code LEAHBEHR. Get your case here.
A local baker, Persnickety Place whipped up these cutesy flamingo cookies for us, and they were as delicious as they were beautiful!
