If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you know I’ve been taking the Native Deodorant 14-day challenge, to put their aluminum and paraben-free deodorant to the test. I’ve actually been using Native deodorant for years now, so I was so excited when they reach out to me to work together, since it’s a brand I already know and LOVE. Here is why Native Deodorant is the only deodorant I’ll wear.
I made the switch from aluminum filled deodorants a while ago, because I personally believe there are health benefits to making the switch (I’ll let you do your own research on that, and decide for yourself), and I always love products that have ingredients I can actually understand. Still, A LOT of “natural” deodorants don’t do the job…and Native is one that has always worked well for me.
So why the 14 day challenge? If you’ve been using antiperspirant for a while, it’s likely your body with go through sort of a “detox” phase when you make the switch to Native. It’s not Native deodorant itself giving you that smell…it’s just part of the process of your body detoxifying from the previous chemically filled deodorants you’re used to. I personally never experienced this detox phase, but I’ve been using aluminum-free deodorant for as long as I can remember, so it’s possible I didn’t go through the detox phase. If you are just making the switch though, I really encourage you to give it a full 14 days before giving up on the product. You’ll be doing such a great thing for your body, trust me!
A few questions came up about Native Deodorant when I shared on my stories, so I thought I’d address them here.
- Can I use Native Deodorant if I have a baking soda allergy? – Yes! While not all Native Deodorants are baking soda free, they definitely have hypoallergenic options, which are available here.
- Will I still sweat if I use Native? – Unfortunately, yes. Because Native is aluminum-free it’s not going to work the same as an antiperspirant, which clogs your pores preventing sweating.
- Some things you can do to maximize effectiveness are:
- apply to clean,
- towel-dried pits
- make sure the product is completely rubbed into your skin
- try a bentonite clay mask to help speed the transition (I have a friend that did this and it worked wonders for them!)

If you’re still unsure about Native, I encourage you to try the 14-day challenge and see how great it is for yourself. You’ll get 20% plus free shipping with code LEAH20 here.
I need to check this out. Thanks dear!
